Weekly Planning Meeting, 9/11

Highlights 9/11:

The big congratulations this week go to mr. hill and roger. Hill
published Alpha 8, a rather massive merge and integration job.
Roger has hooked up the C++ translation of ravi's Tapestry code
on the Sun; he can now get text from xanadu showing up through
fm, through Tapestry, under Open Look, with scroll bars working!

Congratulations also go to ravi. Ravi has been testing MS-DOS
compilers in his spare time. He has been pleasantly surprised
by the Zortech compiler, which, astonishingly, seems to have
all the subtle C++ features we depend on in our coding style...though,
uh, the version of Zortech we have now can't build programs the
size of Xanadu. A new, huge memory model edition of Zortech is
winging its way to us; who knows, we may ship Xanadu under MS-DOS
as our first platform :-)

The moose hunting award this week goes to markm, who identified
two man months of effort that we had not yet scheduled in the
permissions system. The good news is that markm and I were also
able to identify two man months of effort that can be postponed
until the performance engineering phase; hence this new awareness
may not impact our schedule at all.

Meetings: Chris, talk to keith about the Sparc. Hugh, dean,
text redisplay. Ravi, markm, bug in filing out changes. Marcs,
dean, time for bertstamp reclamation. Hugh, chris, comparison
tools in fm. Mr. hill, markm, discuss changeclass. Michael, dean,
second snarf packing meeting. Roland, ravi, marcs, spire. Ravi,
dean, markm, virtual clubs. Roger, ravi, where font info lies.
